Sta. Quiteria

Happy weekend!

To be fair, I've been residing in Sta. Quiteria for 10 years now but I never bothered to look up the patron's biography. I always thought she was make-believe. (Yeah. Way to mock the Catholic Church.) Now some paper for uni forced me to do a little background check.

Nice blog by the way.

for short story, the story of sta quiteria was just like a typical history of being a saint. She was excute because for loving to god and she never gave up even she take to cut off her neck. Is she a pilipino just like of st. ruiz?

No..she is european in origin, being claimed by portugal as one of the 9 daughters of a prince of galicia.to make the story short ,she was set to marry a prince by her father but she refused having consecrated her virginity to Christ..for doing so,her father became furious and tracked her on the mountains of Oria, and sent his soldiers to have her executed.she was beheaded, and as soon as her head was cut-off,she rose up and picked up her severed head and whispered the most holy name.of jesus and walked along with her dog to.the place where she wants to be buried.this is her celebrated legend which is depicted in her iconography..from then in her devotion fluorished as far as spain, france, brazil, india and philippines
